Why a Mobile Artist Makes Sense for Hunter Valley Weddings

Hunter Valley venues are beautiful, but they’re also spread across a wide region, often 30-60 minutes from Newcastle. The last thing you want on your wedding morning is to organise transport for your whole bridal party to travel to a studio and back. As a mobile artist I eliminate that entirely.

I come to wherever you’re staying or getting ready - your venue cottage, a nearby Airbnb, or the bridal suite, and I bring everything needed to create a completely professional result right there in the room.

Your morning stays contained, calm, and exactly where you want to be. I also know the Hunter Valley venues intimately. I know which rooms at Chateau Elan catch the best morning light. I know how early we need to start for an 11am ceremony at Bimbadgen. That local knowledge means nothing gets left to chance.

Bimbadgen Estate

Bimbadgen is one of the Hunter Valley’s most iconic wedding destinations, and it’s easy to see why brides fall in love with it. The sweeping vineyard views create a breathtaking backdrop, and the beautiful natural light that filters through in the morning makes bridal hair and makeup look truly luminous. I love working here, there’s a warmth and romance to the whole property that carries right through the day.

Audrey Wilkinson Vineyard

Audrey Wilkinson is one of the Hunter’s oldest and most beautiful vineyards, with a timeless elegance that suits every bridal style. The getting-ready spaces are generous and filled with gorgeous light, perfect for wedding hair and makeup, and the surrounding vines and hills create that effortlessly romantic Hunter Valley atmosphere from the very first moment.

Circa 1876 at Peppers Creek combines heritage charm with modern luxury in a way that’s hard to beat. The rooms are beautifully appointed, and brides consistently arrive already feeling special before we even begin. I adore working here, the warm, relaxed energy of the property means everyone settles in quickly and the morning flows beautifully.

Potters Receptions is a beloved Hunter Valley institution with dedicated, well-lit getting-ready facilities that make my job a genuine pleasure. The venue has a wonderful, welcoming character and the team there are always an absolute joy to work alongside. It’s a venue where brides feel instantly at ease, which is exactly the energy you want on a wedding morning.

Chateau Elan

Chateau Elan at The Vintage is one of the Hunter Valley’s most luxurious wedding properties, and its beautifully designed suites provide perfect conditions for wedding hair and makeup. The light is generous and even, the space is calm and elegant, and the whole resort setting means brides and their parties can relax completely knowing everything they need is right there.

Roche Estate

Roche Estate offers a relaxed, rustic luxury that feels completely at home in the Hunter Valley landscape. The barn-style architecture and natural materials create a warm, earthy backdrop that suits so many bridal styles beautifully. I love working here - the relaxed atmosphere sets the tone for a calm, joyful morning, and the vineyard setting means bridal hair and makeup always photographs stunningly.

Elopements and Intimate Weddings

Hair and Makeup for Elopements & Intimate Weddings

Elopements and intimate weddings are some of my absolute favourites, and the Hunter Valley is one of the most beautiful places in NSW to have one. There’s something about the scale of it: just the two of you, a handful of people who matter most, and that golden wine country light filtering through the vines. I’ve done hair and makeup for intimate weddings at small private properties in Pokolbin, heritage cottages in Wollombi, and vineyard villas where the ceremony happened right on the terrace before breakfast. The intimacy of a small wedding suits the Hunter Valley perfectly, it never feels like a compromise. It feels intentional.

For an elopement or micro-wedding, my one-artist approach is genuinely ideal - there’s no team arriving, no chaos, no crowd. Just me, you, and a calm unhurried morning exactly the way it should be. I do have a minimum booking of three people for both hair and makeup, plus a travel fee of $150-$200 depending on your location within the valley. But within that, I bring the same full kit, and the same unhurried care whether you have two guests or twenty-five. If you’re planning something small and meaningful in the Hunter Valley, a sunset ceremony among the vines, a quiet dinner for twelve at Circa 1876, I’d love to be part of it.

How much does hair and makeup cost for a Hunter Valley wedding?

Bridal hair is $160 and bridal makeup is $160, so a bride booking both is $320. Bridesmaids are $150 for each service, guests are $140 and mothers of the bride and groom are $130 for makeup. Travel to the Hunter Valley is $150 to $200 depending on your venue. Trials are $150 each and a $300 deposit secures your date. There is a minimum booking of three people for both hair and makeup, and full pricing for every service is on my pricing page.

Do you travel to all Hunter Valley areas?

Yes - I cover all of the Hunter Valley including Pokolbin, Cessnock, Maitland and surrounding areas. A travel fee of $150-$200 applies for Hunter Valley weddings.

What time do you arrive for a Hunter Valley wedding?

I always factor in travel time and arrive 15 minutes before we begin. For early ceremony times I can start as early as 4am if needed.

Can you recommend getting-ready rooms at Hunter Valley venues?

Absolutely, I’ve worked at most of the major Hunter Valley venues and know exactly which rooms have the best natural light and space for hair and makeup.

How far in advance should I book for a Hunter Valley wedding?

Hunter Valley spring and autumn Saturdays book out 12-18 months in advance. I’d recommend enquiring as early as possible to secure your date.

Do you know the Hunter Valley venues well?

Yes, I’ve worked at most of the major Hunter Valley properties multiple times over 18 years. Bimbadgen, Audrey Wilkinson, Chateau Elan, Peppers, Roche Estate, Potters - I know the spaces, the light, and exactly how to plan the morning to run smoothly at each one.

What’s the best time of year for a Hunter Valley wedding?

Spring (September-November) and autumn (March-May) are the most popular - the light is softer, the temperatures are perfect, and the vines are at their most beautiful. These dates book out earliest so I always recommend enquiring 12-18 months ahead for weekend weddings.

Can you accommodate destination brides staying at Hunter Valley properties?

Absolutely, many of my Hunter Valley brides are based in Sydney or elsewhere and are having a destination wedding in the region. I’m very experienced working with brides who aren’t local, and I make the whole planning and booking process easy regardless of where you’re based.
