Finding Your Perfect Formal Style

Whether it’s a corporate awards night in Newcastle, a school formal in Lambton, a hen’s party in the Merewether, or a race day at Broadmedow, I’ve spent nearly two decades helping women look and feel extraordinary for the moments that matter most. As a mobile hair and makeup artist for events across NSW, I bring the full salon experience to you, wherever you’re getting ready. No rushing, no traffic, no stress, just calm, focused artistry right where your celebration begins.

The first question I ask is never about the look, it is about the night. What you are wearing, where it is being held, how the room is lit and what time you will be photographed all change what actually works. A ballroom lit warm at nine o’clock is a different job from a marquee in daylight, and a strapless neckline asks for a different hairline than a high-necked gown does. Get those four things straight and the look very nearly picks itself.

The second question is what you want to look like. Some people arrive with a folder of saved photographs and some arrive with nothing but a dress, and both are a perfectly good place to start, I will ask what you like about your own face on a good day and build outwards from there. What I will not do is put someone else’s look on you. You should recognise yourself in the mirror at the end of it, just sharper.

Corporate Events

Corporate Makeup Artist Newcastle

Corporate events are where first impressions are everything, and I take that seriously. Whether it’s an awards night, a product launch, a conference headshot day, or a company gala, I arrive at your venue fully equipped and ready to work efficiently across your team. As a corporate makeup artist in Newcastle, I’ve worked with business owners, executives, and entire office groups who want to look polished without spending hours in a salon chair.

I tailor every look to the individual, natural and camera-ready for a headshot session, more glamorous for a gala evening. I time everything precisely so your team is ready when you need them to be.

Timing is the part most people underestimate. A team of eight before a six o’clock launch is not eight appointments, it is one schedule with eight slots in it, built backwards from the moment you need everyone in the room. I will ask who is speaking, who is being photographed and who simply needs to look well put together, then order the morning so the people on camera are finished last and freshest.

Corporate work also carries a brief that a wedding does not: it has to survive a full day of being looked at, under lighting nobody chose. I work with long-wear, transfer-resistant formulas and finish with a set that holds through handshakes, hot rooms and a late panel, matte where a camera would otherwise catch a shine, and never so heavy that it reads as makeup in a headshot. If your event runs across two days I can be there for both, or leave your team with the two or three products that will carry them through the second.

School Formals

School Formal Hair and Makeup Newcastle

Your school formal is one of the most photographed nights of your life, and I want you to feel genuinely beautiful for every single shot. School formal hair and makeup in Newcastle is something I love doing, because getting ready with your friends in your own home is just so much more fun than a salon appointment.

For groups of 4 or more, I come to you - whether that’s a family home in Charlestown, a rental house in Cessnock, or a hotel suite in the Hunter Valley. I’ll do your hair and makeup beautifully, keep everyone calm and on time, and make sure you walk out the door feeling like the best version of yourself. Parents love the fact that I handle the logistics, you just tell me the time you need to leave, and I’ll plan backwards from there. Smaller groups of 1-3 are welcome to visit me at my Cameron Park studio.

Hens Parties & Birthdays

Hens Parties, Birthdays & Girls’ Nights

There’s something magical about a group of women getting ready together. A hens party, a milestone birthday, a girls’ trip to a Hunter Valley villa, these are the mornings I genuinely love. Sparkling in glasses, music on, everyone laughing and catching up while I work through the group one by one.

I bring everything to you, no one has to drive anywhere or navigate their way to a strange salon. As a mobile makeup artist for events across NSW, I’ve styled hens groups in vineyard villas, Airbnbs, beachside houses, and inner-city hotels. Tell me your date, your group size, and your vibe - glam, natural, everything in between, and I’ll make it happen beautifully.

Race Days

Race Day Hair & Makeup That Lasts All Day

Race days call for drama, a sculpted updo to match a statement fascinator, or a polished blowwave that holds all afternoon in the heat. I love the aesthetics of race day style and I know exactly how to make looks last when you’re going to be on your feet all day, likely in the sun.

I use professional-grade, long-wearing products and, where appropriate, airbrush makeup, because race day foundations need to last from the mounting yard to the final race, regardless of the weather. Whether you’re attending the Newcastle racecourse, or any event across the Central Coast or Port Stephens, I’ll come to wherever you’re getting ready beforehand.

Why Book Amanda

Mobile Hair and Makeup Newcastle, Events Done Right

I’ve been a hairstylist for 24 years and a makeup artist for 18. I’ve worked hundreds of weddings, hundreds of special events, and I’ve built my reputation entirely on being someone clients genuinely trust. When you book me, you’re not booking a salon - you’re booking a person who will show up on time, work calmly, and make you look beautiful.

As a mobile hair and makeup artist covering Newcastle, the Hunter Valley, and beyond, I’m also an award-winning bridal artist who brings exactly that same level of care and attention to every event booking, big or small. I hold myself to the same standard for a hens party of four as I do for a bride on her wedding morning.

Event hair and makeup in the Hunter Valley is a specialty of mine - I know the venues, the distances, the traffic, and the logistics. Whether you need one person done, or a group of fourteen, I’ll plan the day so it flows.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you travel to my venue for event hair and makeup?

Yes, that's exactly what I do for groups of 4 or more people. Otherwise I'll ask you to visit my Cameron Park Studio.

What types of events do you cover?

I work across a wide range of events - corporate functions and awards nights, school formals, hens parties, milestone birthday celebrations, race days, and high-end social events. If you want to look polished and feel genuinely confident, I'm the right artist for your occasion.

How many people can you accommodate for a group booking?

For smaller groups of four people, I handle everything myself. For larger groups - school formals, corporate teams, or big hens parties, I coordinate additional trusted artists so everyone is ready on time and beautifully done. Just let me know your group size when you enquire so I can plan accordingly.

How far in advance should I book for a school formal or corporate event?

I'd recommend booking at least six to eight weeks in advance for most events, and earlier for school formal season (typically October-November in the Hunter Valley and Newcastle area). Popular dates fill up quickly, especially on weekends. A deposit secures your booking, don't leave it too late!

Do you offer trials before a big event?

Many clients prefer to book a trial; others are happy to brief me in detail and trust the process. It's entirely your call and I'll guide you either way.

What areas do you service for mobile hair and makeup events?

My primary service areas for event hair and makeup are Newcastle and Lake Macquarie. I'm based in Cameron Park, which puts me close to Newcastle. If you're outside these areas, reach out, I consider all enquiries.
